The 2002 spring meeting of the Massachusetts Society of Indexers (MSI) was held Friday morning, April 12, at the Massachusetts Historical Society in Boston.

The Massachusetts Historical Society (MHS) is a major research library and manuscript repository. Its holdings encompass millions of rare and unique documents and artifacts vital to the study of American history, many of them irreplaceable national treasures. A few examples include correspondence between John and Abigail Adams; several imprints of the Declaration of Independence; and the pen that Abraham Lincoln used to sign the Emancipation Proclamation. As part of its mission "to seek and find, to preserve and communicate" historical documents to the widest possible audience, MHS is now in its third century as a publisher. The Society has brought hundreds of books into print, most of them drawn from or reflective of the archive's holdings.
