The 2006 annual fall conference of the New England Chapter of the American Society of Indexers was a full-day event held Saturday, September 30, at the LaCava Conference Center of Bentley College, and was attended by 34 participants. Workshop: Indexing Tips From the Most Common Mistakes to Advanced Techniques
Presented by Susan Holbert
This presentation included exercises and examples designed to sharpen the skills of audience members of all levels of experience in indexing and concluded with some remarks on indexing rates.

Roundtable Discussion Groups
Moderated discussions on different indexing subject areas from among medical, technical/computers, textbooks, scholarly books, business & finance, and cookbooks, involving two or three rotations of discussion groups.

Disability Insurance
Randy Pereschino, the District Sales Manager of Mutual of Omaha spoke briefly about disability insurance for self-employed indexers.

American Society of Indexers National News
Seth Maislin, President of the American Society of Indexers presented news and current issues concerning the the national parent organization to which our chapter belongs.

Panel: Indexing Specific Materials
A panel of experienced indexers each spoke about different specialties in book indexing.

Peer Review Session
Participants provided detailed comments and suggestions for improvements on two previously submitted indexes: The Good Dog Library: Best Behavior, Unleashing Your Dog's Instinct to Obey and Home Owners Tax Breaks.
